Recover a Gmail / Google Account
Locked out of Gmail? Google's recovery works best from a device and place it already knows. Here's how to give it the best chance.
1. Start recovery
Go to g.co/recover and enter your Gmail address.
g.co/recover
2. Use a familiar device and Wi-Fi
Try from a phone or computer you've signed in on before, at home. It makes Google more confident it's you.
3. Answer what you can
Use your recovery phone or email, codes on a signed-in phone, or the last password you remember. Don't skip; guess if unsure.
4. Once you're in
Change the password, then at myaccount.google.com > Security update the recovery phone and email and review signed-in devices.

FAQ
Can I call Google to recover my account?
No. There's no phone support for free accounts, and anyone who calls you claiming to be Google is a scammer.
It says try again later.
Wait a few days and try again from your usual device and location.
