Run Windows Apps on Linux (Bottles and Wine)
Many Windows programs run on Linux with Wine. Bottles makes it easy by managing separate Wine environments for each app.
1. Install Bottles
From Flathub (works on most distros).
flatpak install flathub com.usebottles.bottles
2. Create a bottle
Open Bottles > Create new bottle > Application (or Gaming).
3. Run the installer
Open the bottle > Run Executable > pick the .exe.
Bottle > Run Executable > setup.exe
4. Plain Wine
Or install Wine directly and run the exe.
sudo apt install wine && wine setup.exe
FAQ
Will every Windows app work?
No. Check appdb.winehq.org for your app. Games: use Steam with Proton.
