iPhone Duo First Day: 5 Duo-Only Things to Set Up

Setting up iPhone Duo is the same as any iPhone (Quick Start or set up without another device), but a few things are different on the foldable. These come from Apple's iPhone Duo pages.

1. Touch ID in the side button

iPhone Duo uses Touch ID built into the side button instead of Face ID.

Settings › Touch ID & Passcode

2. eSIM only

There's no SIM tray. Your carrier transfers your number to eSIM during setup or in Settings › Cellular.

3. The poses

Closed: the outer display for quick tasks. Open: the inner display for reading, video and two apps. Partly folded like a book: StandBy and Smart Take. Tent: the outer display faces you or your subject.

4. StandBy positions

Choose which positions turn on StandBy.

Settings › StandBy

5. Using a case

If a case covers the left edge of the outer display, shift the content.

Settings › Display & Brightness › Shift Left Edge
