Set a Charge Limit on iPhone (iPhone 15 to iPhone 18 Pro)

iPhone 15 and later can stop charging below 100%. Choose the limit in Settings. These steps are from Apple's iPhone User Guide for iOS 27.

1. Pick a limit

Go to Settings › Battery › Charging and choose a percentage.

Settings › Battery › Charging

2. Why it still shows 100% sometimes

Your iPhone occasionally charges to 100% to keep its battery estimate accurate. That's expected.

3. Need a full charge today?

Use Charge to 100% for a temporary override, or set the limit to 100%.

Settings › Battery › Charge to 100%

4. Related settings

Optimize Battery Charging delays charging past 80% when your iPhone learns your routine. Check Battery Health in Settings › Battery.

FAQ

Does a charge limit make the battery last longer?

Keeping a battery below 100% reduces wear over time. The trade-off is less runtime per day.

Which iPhones have it?

iPhone 15 and later, per Apple's guide. Older models have Optimize Battery Charging instead.
