Check and Enable Secure Boot on Windows 11

Secure Boot stops malware from loading before Windows starts, and some games and Windows 11 itself require it. Check it in 10 seconds and turn it on in your PC's firmware.

1. Check if it's on

Press Windows + R, type msinfo32. Under System Summary look at Secure Boot State (On/Off) and BIOS Mode (must be UEFI).

Win + R  ->  msinfo32  ->  Secure Boot State

2. Open the firmware settings

Settings > System > Recovery > Advanced startup > Restart now > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings > Restart.

Advanced startup > Troubleshoot > Advanced options > UEFI Firmware Settings

3. Turn it on

Find Secure Boot (usually under Boot or Security), set it to Enabled, save and exit (often F10). Names vary by manufacturer.

Boot / Security > Secure Boot: Enabled > F10

4. BIOS Mode says Legacy?

Secure Boot needs UEFI. Converting needs the disk changed to GPT (mbr2gpt). Back up first or ask a technician.

mbr2gpt /validate /allowFullOS

FAQ

Will enabling Secure Boot erase anything?

No, if BIOS Mode already says UEFI. If it says Legacy, Windows may not boot until the disk is converted.

Why does a game ask for Secure Boot?

Some anti-cheat systems require it to make sure no cheat loads before Windows.
